Zombie story part 1

Posted by BigDates Nov. 24, 2007 @ 1:06 AM EST

This is only a small few intro paragraph's of this epic tale of hope in a Rural Zombie Outbreak

As I awoke from my bed, the sleep that seemed to have lasted forever, laying awkwardly on my bed. As I rose the room was spinning and my head was filling with thoughts of the party, and dizziness, I knew it would be a while before I would do something like that again. Once I was up, the room seemed to stay calm. First thing I did was grab a t-shirt and my old hoodie and a pair of jeans. I opened the door that I seemed to have locked on my way in last night, being too drunk to remember. Now my house isn't in the greatest part of the neighborhood, after I moved out of my parents house I've been living in the ghetto where all of the gangs seemed to be located, in Riverstate Clearside. I went to the kitchen like I would usually go every morning to eat a well balanced breakfast before work, or school. But today I have a PD day, which excuses me from my classes, so I try to fit in as much work as possible. My work wasn't the greatest, but it paid enough to get by the bills, working down at the old train station part-time on weekdays after school, and full shifts on weekends.

I flipped on the news like I usually would on a Monday morning, to catch the scores of the game last night. As I was listening there was some important news bulletin about a carnivorous zombie outbreak, at first I thought it was a joke that the high school students in my area were playing because they were into that kind of stuff always playing tricks on the residents around here. After eating I hopped into my car and drove off to work. I felt strange though; usually my old neighbor john would be outside bringing out the garbage on a Monday morning where I would usually stop by and chat for a few minutes. I started to get a small bit suspicious as I saw no bags out, but nothing too bad to investigate, so after driving to work which is only a 10-15 minute drive, I seemed to see people running into their homes, and cars driving faster than I have ever seen before, but by this I was not worried until I arrived...

Like usual on Sunday and Monday mornings, everyone seemed like zombies, but today more so than usual. I also ignored this as I pulled into the parking lot. I checked in my time card, and went to go speak to my boss about being late. As I entered his room he appeared to be crouching in the corner feeding on raw meat. I called out his name, but he did not answer him so I approached him slowly. As I came within 3 feet, he turned around with his face blood drenched, and decayed; he swung at me with his arms. I was frightened as I stepped backward slowly, until I hit something. Before I could turn around I felt a firm grip on my arm, I lunged my arm forward with such strength the momentum pushed me forward. There I was stuck between two of those supposed "zombies" the news broadcast I was warned about; I had no other option.

I had few options and even fewer time to think about them; the way I saw it I could either: Run to my boss's desk and hope to find some sort of weapon, or I could push the man in front of the door down, and race to my car and go home. I thought, heck once I got home I could take my revolver, try the phone and call my buds if it works, if not then look for them so I decided to push the man out of the way of the door. As I do so he tore my hoodie while he was going down. I raced to my car, to see it was surrounded by several zombies, all heading my way. So I went to the nearest car, hoping for the keys to still be in it, nope. I couldn't take any more chances so I decided to book it to the nearest place I thought would be safe. I ran to my ex girlfriend's house Liz; a 3 minute run only, I would usually walk to her place after work till things got complicated, and we decided to just be friends. I went inside; I heard a screaming noise coming from the bedroom. I opened the door there I saw her best friend biting her head; I took action, and pushed the lifeless girl off of Liz. She was petrified so much that she couldn't talk for the first few seconds. After she seemed fine I helped her up, and bandaged her wound.

Me and Liz got into her SUV and drove to my place, where I could retrieve my old reviver, which only had 18 bullets, although it would still be minimally useful. On the drive, we saw dozens and dozens of people screaming and running away from these lifeless things. Cars turned off the road, and smashed up windows from buildings. We came to a stop as a car slowly drove approximately into us as we were speeding down the road. I was shaken up from the crash, it was hard enough to put a huge dent into the side of the car that we hit, and Liz seemed to be a little dizzy. I helped her up as we were only one block away from my house. We ran as I had her over my shoulder practically carrying her there. I was exhausted from the short sprint, but glad once I reached my front door,

As I opened my front door, I quickly locked everything up closed the blinds to my windows, barricaded most windows on the first floor with furniture, and placed Liz down on the couch. I saw her start to turn pale, as her bandage was drenched with blood. I was afraid; I didn't know what to do, who to call, or how to survive. I called 911, but of course the phone line just HAD to be disconnected. I turned on the T.V. Hoping to make things better; yet it only seemed to make things worse.

The broadcast informed me that any bitten human, will become one of "the living dead" anytime within 15 minutes to an hour. Checking in on Liz I could tell she had no time left; she was going to turn into one of them. I didn't tell her about the broadcast I thought of it best for her to not know. I did not know what to do the T.V. announced that there IS an antidote research underway somewhere down in the US, but by the time we would reach there she'd be one of them. I thought to myself would she want to be one of those creatures, or would she rather die, I also thought if I didn't kill her maybe those "things" communicate some other way, and it would draw more attention to me. But, I did not have the guts to shoot her, so I informed her of what her circumstances were. She did not want to die because of her, so she told me to shoot her.

There I am standing in a my living room, holding my revolver never killing a human being before I was shocked. I knew she wanted to go out, but I couldn't come up with the courage to do so. I nearly dazed off until she got up with no emotion on her face lunging at me as the same way my boss did. I pulled the trigger twice lodging two .357 caliber bullets into her head. I could not cope with the stress I was so shaken, I could not move I dropped the gun, then I fell to the floor in misery and pain. "Was who I just killed Liz, the amazing girl who I loved, or was it one of those brainless things?" "Was every place in the world like this?" "Where am I best off, and most safe?" Were some of the thoughts that rushed through my head as I fell to the ground.

Part 2 comming by probably November 25'th, if not then than it will be December 2'nd.
